Infrastructure work is underway in Port Covington to support 1.1 million square feet of new development. To facilitate this progress, E. Cromwell Street will close from Port Covington Drive to McComas Street for a duration of 18 to 24 months, beginning on January 20, 2020. TRAVELING TO PORT COVINGTON
When traveling South on I-95 to Port Covington:
- Pass through the toll plaza, and enter the Fort McHenry Tunnel in the far right lane of the right bore.
- Take Exit 55 (Key Highway/Fort McHenry). Once on McComas Street, stay in the left lane as you approach the signalized intersection at Key Highway.
- Continue on E. McComas Street for one mile. Turn left onto Hanover Street at the signalized intersection. Merge into the right lane on Hanover Street and enter the jughandle, then follow the directions below*.
When traveling North on I-95 to Port Covington:
- Take exit 54 (Hanover Street). Merge into the right lane on Hanover Street and enter the jughandle, then follow the directions below*.
To Port Covington from Federal Hill:
- Drive south on Hanover Street, then follow the directions below*.
To Port Covington from Locust Point:
- From Key Highway, turn right onto McComas Street. Continue on E. McComas Street for a mile. Turn left onto Hanover Street at the signalized intersection. Merge into the right lane on Hanover Street and enter the jughandle, then follow the directions below*.
To Port Covington from South Baltimore, via Hanover Street Bridge:
- This route has not changed. Drive north over the Hanover Street Bridge, then follow the directions below*.
*To destinations west of Hanover Street (City Garage, South Point, etc.), turn right at the jughandle stop sign.
*To destinations east of Hanover Street (Nick’s Fish House, Rye Street Tavern, Sagamore Spirit Distillery, Baltimore Sun, Under Armour Building 37, etc.), turn left at the jughandle stop sign, then enter the middle lane at the signalized intersection. Continue across Hanover Street onto Cromwell Street, and make the appropriate turn to your destination.
TRAVELING THROUGH PORT COVINGTON TO ACCESS DOWNTOWN BALTIMORE OR I-95
From points South of Port Covington, Hanover Street remains open.
- To access Locust Point or I-95 North, travel North on Hanover Street, then turn Right onto McComas Street and travel 1.5 miles. To access Locust Point, turn left onto Key Highway; to access I-95 North, continue straight and merge onto the highway.
- The route to access Downtown Baltimore and the I-95 South entrance ramp has not changed. Travel North on Hanover Street; merge right onto I-95 South, or continue straight to access Federal Hill.
